Encountering traumatic stress reactions in a client's body, and helping to relieve those symptoms, is probably the most challenging part of being a bodyworker, whether a novice or veteran practitioner.
This workshop will provide important information in how to address the complex patterning of chronic muscle tension, somatic pain and at times emotional abreactions, in a client.
When trauma has resulted from an abusive relationship in childhood or domestic violence, then the bodywork relationship itself is brought into focus as an important part of the client's healing process.
In this day together we will focus on:
Understanding the physiology of trauma
Technical expertise in supporting release and containment
Intuitive sensitivity to attune to individual client's needs
How to provide a consistent holding relational environment of safety
In a format of lecture, discussion, touch awareness exercises, and subtle touch techniques, we will be exploring together our limitations and proficiencies as bodyworkers to help these clients. |
