Join us for a fun experiential anatomy class designed for the massage therapist. We will be learning all the major muscles of the body using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modes of learning. We will make muscles out of clay and place them in layers on a skeleton model. As we learn the muscles we will be palpating the muscles on each other and learning different massage techniques that can be done for that muscle, including stretching, counterstrain, and soft tissue release techniques. We also will be covering relevant physiology, health and hygiene, and contraindications to massage.

Sidelying Massage with Dr. James Mally January 24, 2010 (Sunday) or July 18, 2010 (Sunday) or October 28, 2010 (Thursday) or 9 am - 6 pm 8 hours ($150) Some clients may not be able to lay on their back or stomach, so it is important to be able to massage them in a position in which they are comfortable. Your client's body is not a pancake to be flipped over in the middle of a massage, but rather is a three dimensional structure. Some areas such as the shoulders, low back and hips can be accessed best when the client is laying on their side. Learn effective techniques for these areas as well as a flowing full body massage that can be done in the sidelying position. Proper draping and use of bolsters will be shown.
