Financial Aid

Most federal financial aid programs do not cover our massage therapy training because they only cover courses of 700 hours and above. Some students have been able to get funding through other agencies.

Golden Sierra Job Training Agency

Some students have found funding through Golden Sierra Job Training Agency. Funding is available for people with low income in Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, and Yuba counties. Unfortunately Golden Sierra does not have offices in Sacramento County. Contact phone numbers are:

Placer County 916-652-0933
El Dorado County 530-621-5870
Nevada County 530-265-3201
Yuba County 530-741-6213

Vocational Rehabilitation Agencies

Some students have been able to get funding through Vocational Rehabilitation Agencies. This applies mainly to people who have had work related injuries, but can also apply to people affected by downsizing at their workplace. At Healing Arts Institute we will work with you and your vocational rehabilitation counselor to help you get the training you need.

Some vocational rehabilitation counselors have concerns about massage therapy as a profession for clients with back problems, however many people come into this field because of their own musculoskeletal problems. With instruction in proper body mechanics, and the availability of light weight massage tables, it is possible for people with back problems to pursue massage as a career. We will be happy to work with you and your vocational counselor if this is a concern.

Elk's Lodge Vocational Scholarship

This particular program has no age limitation and no scholastic requirements. The Scholarship is good for $2,000.00, that is $1,000.00 per year for two years. It is unique in that it is not intended for students who are going to attend a four year institution. It's purpose is to assist people who need some help qualifying for a living wage doing something that they have chosen to do.

A disabled student program is also available.
