Bring the Experience into your practice of the ALOHA SPIRIT and rhythm of the Islands through traditional Lomi Lomi Hawaiian Massage.
The workshop is designed to introduce participants to Lomi Lomi as it applies to present day problems experienced by clients. In a hands-on setting, general procedures for the entire body are demonstrated by the instructor and practiced by the participants. Each student will experience the instructors touch to aid them in applying proper pressure and movements. You will learn basic sequences to bring relief to many general symptoms by addressing the major muscle groups. We focus on finding the source of the imbalances and finding solutions.
Students who have successfully completed the course will:
- Have the skills to do full-body oil and clothed Lomi Lomi massages on a massage table, seated or floor work in unlimited settings i.e. private practices, clinical settings, sports, spa, and corporate settings, health fairs, for family and friends, retreat settings, special events, etc.
- Be able to provide 60, 90 + minute full body Lomi Lomi massages specific to clients’ needs.
In 1992, Patricia studied in Hawaii with Auntie Margaret Machado, who taught us the ‘loving touch’. Auntie Margaret was one of the first Hawaiians to teach LomiLomi outside of the Ohana (family) system, and she was honored as a ‘living legend’ during her lifetime. Patricia continues her studies with Kumu Maka’ala Yates, D.C., and Kumu Dane Kaohelani Silva, Native Hawaiians of the Big Island.
Lomi Lomi is not one technique or style. It has been passed on from ancient times through the families and their lineages. Lomi Lomi massage is based on an ancient traditional Hawaiian holistic approach to wellness, addressing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being. It is a cultural approach to restoring the balance of breath (Ha) and spiritual Power (Mana) in the human body (Kino), which constitute essential elements of health (Ola). Hawaiian Lomlomi is the touch of Aloha, the loving touch is a sacred touch. Because it can connect the bodies and souls of two people, a bridge may be created, within which a natural flow of energy and communication may occur.
Lomi Lomi has a rhythmic flow which penetrates deeply in a non-invasive way, using our hands, forearms, elbows, and feet to work with the soft tissue. Lomi Lomi is a full-body oil massage and is a circulatory massage working toward the heart affecting the entire body, including muscles, bones, fascia, nervous system and lymphatic complex. The technique works through several layers of the soft tissue, and can penetrate deep to a place where old and new traumas are hidden. Lomi Lomi can provide immediate and long-term relief of muscular-skeletal pain, mental fatigue, and reduce the physical effects of stress. Lomi Lomi provides the opportunity for the client to participate in their own healing to rejuvenate their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
